Brush on the Bluff: Launching Art for Wild Places in Spokane

Brush on the Bluff: Launching Art for Wild Places in Spokane

This Saturday marks the in-person launch of my new project, Art for Wild Places, and I can’t think of a better place to begin than Brush on the Bluff, where I'll be painting live alongside 50 order incredible local artists.

Why Brush on the Bluff?

For this first painting in the series, I sat down with Ava and Sarah, the coordinators behind Brush on the Bluff and long-time advocates for this beautiful public space. We talked about their deep connection to the bluff, how the Spokane community comes together to protect it, and why preserving this local ecosystem matters now more than ever.

If you’re curious about the full story behind this piece, I shared more about our conversation in my previous post.

A Painting in Progress

Their words and passion helped shape the painting I’ll be debuting this weekend. It’s the first in a growing body of work inspired by interviews with people who are working to protect public lands and wild places. Each one inspiring a unique piece of art rooted in storytelling and conservation.

I’ve sketched it out, blocked in the color, and now I’ll be finishing the piece live at the event. This is your chance to see how a painting comes together in real time. Layer by layer, right there on the bluff.

Join Me This Saturday

I’ll be painting throughout the day and would love to see you. Whether you’re coming to browse art, talk conservation, or simply enjoy a nature-filled Spokane art event, you’re warmly invited.

There’s currently a 30 percent chance of rain in the forecast, so I’m debating whether to bring my full pop-up tent or just embrace the weather with an umbrella. If I set up a cozy chill spot in my tent, would you stay and hang out for a bit? Or are you planning to stroll through either way? Let me know, I’d love your thoughts.
